This is one of our “special” boats, hand built by John.
The voyageur is a group canoe which is not only beautiful but streamlined and surprisingly quick.
The voyageur is ideal for parties of up to 8 adults or 10 young people. Experience the magnificent vista offered in the centre of the lake. Great as a team building activity for educational or corporate groups.
As a British Canoeing Quality Mark Activity Provider one of our qualified staff will always accompany you. You can take along your picnic to visit one of the islands or the more isolated shoreline of the lake or an individual can book on to one of our GO Canoeing Guided Tours.
If you want to relax a little more we have the option to equip the boat with a quiet electric motor. So if paddling is not your thing you can still get out there. It’s great fun and it’s ideal for groups of all shapes, sizes and abilities.
The boat can be equipped with cushions making it is great for that special event – wedding, birthday or anniversary.
Our experience and knowledge of the lake along with access to safety boats allows us to offer you a range of experiences in most weather conditions. There are no age limits, from babes in arms to great gran and we have all the necessary safety equipment.
History
Our voyageur canoe is based on the craft used by the French Canadian Voyageurs, paddlers who worked in the fur trade from the 1690 to 1850’s, transporting large quantities of cargo long distances through the Great Lakes and river systems of Canada.
Like all the other Native American canoes these craft where built of a light weight wooden frame covered in birch bark sealed with tar.
Built by us, hand crafted using cedar strips sealed with a lightweight fibreglass and resin to use alongside our canoe groups and for our son’s wedding
