Competence in a powerboat is a basic requirement for those working in today’s water sports industry.
Do you have a powerboat of your own? Then it is really important to be trained in basic safety and handling skills.
Do you want to hire a powered craft on the continent? An RYA Powerboat Level 2 can help you achieve the necessary International Certificate of Competence (ICC).
Minimum age requirement for powerboat training is 14.
Platty + based at Lodore Boat Landings is an RYA training centre. We offer a selection of courses. Start off with the standard entry-level courses, RYA Level 1 or Level 2 in planing boats. These provide basic boat handling skills at both high and low speeds. The instructor pupil ratio is 1 to 3. The course price includes the certificate and with Level 2 this also includes the RYA Start Powerboating handbook.
Once you have the basic awards, and some experience you are eligible for the Safety boat course, which covers the skills necessary to operate a rescue boat at an outdoor centre or sailing club. Instructor pupil ratio maximum of 1:6. Course fees include certificate.
Log books and other RYA publications are available to purchase.
